Pro-Am Jams ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Pro-Am Jams platform connecting amateur and professional musicians for organized jam sessions. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our services.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, profile photo, and musician preferences (instruments, genres).
Location Data (Derived from IP Address)
When you register or log in, we automatically look up your approximate geographic location based on your IP address. This includes:
- Country, state/province, and city (approximate)
- GPS coordinates (city-level accuracy, not precise)
- Timezone
IP addresses are hashed using SHA-256 before storage. We do not store your raw IP address.
Device Information
When you register or log in, we collect:
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and version
- Device type (mobile, tablet, or desktop)
- Device vendor and model (when available from your browser)
Usage Data
We record login timestamps, event signups, song suggestions, and other platform interactions necessary to operate the service.
2. How We Use This Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and improve the Pro-Am Jams platform
- Detect and prevent fraud, duplicate accounts, and unauthorized access
- Monitor login anomalies (e.g., logins from new countries or devices)
- Provide hosts with aggregated attendance analytics (e.g., how far musicians travel to events)
- Generate anonymized platform analytics for administrators
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. IP Address Lookup
IP-based geolocation is a standard industry practice used for security and analytics. Hashed IP addresses are not considered personally identifiable information (PII) under most privacy frameworks. No opt-out is required or available for this standard security practice.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell individual user data. We may share aggregated, anonymized analytics (e.g., "60% of users are on mobile") with hosts and partners. No individual user can be identified from aggregated reports.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- View your login history at /account/security
- Report unauthorized access from your security page ("Not you?" button)
- Delete your account from Profile Settings — this permanently deletes all login history and location data
- Request data export by contacting support@proamjams.com
GDPR (European Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area, we process location and device data under the legitimate interest basis for fraud prevention and platform security. You have the right to erasure (account deletion) and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- SHA-256 hashing of IP addresses
- Firebase Authentication for secure login
- Anomaly detection for suspicious login patterns
- Admin review of flagged security events
8. Children's Privacy
Pro-Am Jams is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the platform or email.
